Does one twin truly feel the others pain?

This cartoon shows two twin brothers fighting on opposite sides of the civil war. They share genetic code but are willing to fight each other over something that isn't worth losing a brother. As they lock weapons with one another, the flags they represent are flying behind them. No conflict is worth fighting your brother. As a child you are taught that you should stick with your family and never go against them. These two brothers must not have gotten that message. Blood is thicker than water and in this case thicker than the sweat of a slaves eyebrow. As they strike each other, will they cringe in pain as well?
