Number one goal: Stay in the Air

A pilot in world war one had to be focused on two things and two things only. One, dont let anyone get behind you. Two, shoot them down fast so they cant work their way behind you. It was truly an addrenaline induceing experience. You would know that they were trying to shoot you out of the air. You would watch your teamates fall out of the air as their wings are shot off or they shot their own wings because of poor  communication with the gunner. But on the other hand, you would come back to base everyday proud to be one of the first of that type of warrior.
