Martin Luther King remains the king of civil rights.

Malcolm X and Martin Luther King had very different ways of achieveing their goals. Malcolm X encouraged using any means nessecary. Martin Luther King encouraged civil disobediance. The latter was a lot more effective in that it gave the Whites no reason to talk badly about it. An act of violence would be looked upon as an ignorant act of violence typical to minorites and give the Whites another reason to look down upon the minorites. Civil disobedience was a neutral way to disobey the social norms. The White community would not find as many things to say about that and would begin to get confused as to why they couldn't find more reasons to dislike the minorites. This made more Whites realize the errors in their ways much quicker and ended civil issues earlier.
