Abraham lincoln wasn't focused on slavery?

Abraham Lincoln's main focus was to preserve the union rather than end slavery. Abraham was smart. He knew that trying to preserve the union would convice some of the true patriots in the south to side with him and talk to their radical governments about coming back to the government. He figured that the number of patriots in the south would outnumber the people against slavery. The more people on his side the less people to resist the United States army in their attempts to force the south to come back to the United States. It was a very good plan. He knew that he would need all the help he could get to force somebody to do something on their home turf. Abraham's plan worked.
