The game helps people realize just how hard it was to get through the trail and into the west. The limited money forces you to choose whether your family wont have the food to eat comfortably or have the clothes to stay warm. Your family needs you to make good decisions or they will die. Your oxen begin to die and your family gets sick. you start to imagine what it would be like to make those decisions as you walk on the oregon trail. You dont really think about it when you're playing but when u are told to reflect on it you realize how important the decisions you were making were. Games like this one should be used more often to teach lessons.
